Time to opening is so close. When you receive this email the garden will be in the construction stage with all the jigsaw pieces coming together.
A big thank you to Sandi MacRae and Lindsay Robinson for the many hours of work they have put into this garden. I can not wait to see the final product. I have seen the plan and know the plants personally but nothing will complete it as seeing it all come together at the show. So join me and marvel at the wonderful design and hard work.
Look for ideas to use in your own garden be it large or small. Nothing is more satisfying as producing your own paradise where you can relax in the ambience and able to harvest your own fruit - so healthy and fun.
Join me at Ellerslie Flower Show 10-14th March Hagley Park Christchurch.

Fig
As ancient as Adam and Eve, the Fig tree remains popular for its delicious succulent fruit.
As a child I remember the figs sprawling across the ground, producing masses of fruit, and echoing to the sound of starlings fighting for the most tender, sweetest fruit.
We climbed that tree and over-indulged in the endless sweet food supply. These wonderful fruit not only taste great, they are good for you, high in antioxidants and are rich in fibre, iron, potassium & calcium.
They make excellent shade trees for your back yard, however with shrinking gardens figs perform brilliantly if standardised in a large pot on your deck.
Easy to grow and are undemanding so go ahead satisfy your passion for tree-ripened figs.

Chilean Guava
I am one of the most delightfully versatile and rewarding plants from the incredible edibles®range.
Compact and evergreen I will grow in most soil conditions, I tolerate the summer heat & icy cold winters and best of all I fruit in sun or shade.
In return, I will provide year round interest for your garden. Use me as a small carefully clipped hedge in a formal garden, style me into an elegant topiary, place in a largish container or incorporate me into your general planting.
I have lovely new red growth, simple creamy bell shaped flowers in spring, little red fruits in late summer, and I reach my full potential in autumn with delightful aromatic fruit ready to be devoured by the handful and make an ideal grazing food for children. In winter I settle back and rest a while.
I am a truly all season's plant that will tempt you away from those non-fruiting substitutes. |
