Edible Plants grown with love
Experience the pleasure that comes from growing, harvesting, sharing, and enjoying fruit – straight from your very own garden. As specialist edible plant growers, we’ve spent the last 20 years, lovingly propagating and nurturing hundreds of varieties of fruiting plants at our nursery in Katikati. The result is the most extensive range available anywhere in New Zealand, so you can choose the variety that’s exactly right for you, with the confidence that it’s been developed specifically for New Zealand growing conditions.
Having a garden is one of life’s great joys, reconnecting us with the earth, and helping us to savour the changes of each new season. We love each and every stage of the growing experience, and we hope that you will too.

Blackberry Black Satin
Blackberry Black Satin is our favourite out of the Berryfruit range. Its large conical black fruit with a sweet flavour is just the best when picked straight from the plant during February and March. The thornless upright canes makes it easy to tie up against a fence or a wire.
Planting deciduous edible plants during the winter (and early spring) is one of the best time to plant, as plants are without leaves they are dormant (no active sap flow), so there is no transplanting shock. Mix your existing soil with some nice organic matter (like compost) and use that as your planting mix, firmly pack this mixture around the plant than cover the area around the plant with a good layer of mulch. Come spring the plant will grow quickly with the mulch preventing weeds growth around the base of the plant as well as keeping moisture in the soil (repeat the mulching early summer).
